Thread: DPT braked cans

Looks like DPT has some new bits, and released a muzzle braked end for their cans. Has anyone used these yet and found them helpful?
I have a maniatis can with the ported end cap (which I haven't actually used without the ported end piece) and that thing is amazing.
Wondering if it's worth upgrading the rest of my cans for other rifles?

Yes I've just got one. Used it only at the range and quite impressed. Had 2 x 6.5s with me, one with mk1 can with extra baffle and it jumps well off target. One with New braked can pretty much held on target. I would definitely get another. Keep in mind that the new end only fits the mk2 model.

Was there any difference in sound reduction between the two? Was the new barked one quieter or louder than the OG?

Fairly loud, would need hearing protection at the range, borderline in the field

Was it louder? Well hard to say. I was at the range on my own wearing ear muffs and half deaf anyway but didn't sound too much different to me.

If its going through the same amount of baffles before the brake how can it be any louder? I guess it could direct it more towards the shooter

Same way a brake is louder at the shooter than a non braked rifle, directs noise/pressure back at the shooter.

Hmm, I'll buy a supressor/sound moderator but want to add a brake on the end to make it louder again...

Maybe this is DPT responding to market demand, as Matt Dubber and a few of the SA shooting personalities who are big on Utube have used this type of 'supressor' ehich is ultimately pointless.

I can't forsee a supressor wrap working well with a brake on the end. So double negative as you can't do anything to counter the increased mirage.

Not true, they say it fits the MK1 magnum cans too

Mk1 is different diameter parts are not interchangeable.

DPT have announced that they are going to offer braked front pieces for the mark1...

I.e. not compatible (as different) but they are (or will be?) available...

Yes, I would love to shoot a radial brake in front of my moderator which will then result in deposits of dirt/sand/dust going in if shooting from low-prone...

Shame as I have a DPT Mk2 and like it.

If you don’t like the idea, then don’t buy one. But don’t whinge about something you have not tried.

The muzzle brake front cap is an optional extra. You can still purchase our standard range of suppressors without it.
