Thread: DPT SUPPRESSOR

Every one says buy a dpt buy a dpt.
So what makes them better then the rest. (only other brand i will buy is gunworks)
Want be removing baffles for bush stalking.
DPT vs Gunworks ??
currently running a gunworks ten year old can sits in front of muzzle 5" approx 12.5" long 35mmdia. was going to get gun re threaded and crowned. so thought it might be time to up grade to a more compact suppressor

DPT suppressors are generally one of the lighter suppressors around, they work well and as you say you can add or remove baffles and their good value too. Gunworks are good, a fraction heavier but I believe they will make them whatever length you want, you can go for the thicker suppressor too if you want a shorter can.

They are light weight, they work very well, you have the option of adding extra baffles (or removing them) and the price point is right. And the owner of the business is a reasonable fella to deal with, unlike some other north island manufacturers.

@GWH would you get the s/s blast baffle to give it extra life?

I have several Dpt suppressors. That I swap around between various rifles, with my 7mm baffles getting used on 3 different 7mm rifles, a 22" 7mm saum a 15" 7mm08 and a 17" 284win all loaded hot so the first baffle does get a hard time. I don't have a SS baffle but prob should get one. Id say I shoot more than most.

Being able to just have a couple of baffles on for bush stuff, versus screwing another couple on for a magnum must be pretty handy. Also, if you shoot 223 on a 1/2x28tpi thread and want to use the guts of the can on a 1/2x20 22lr, all you need is the appropriate threaded bit and you're away. Or, you have a couple of 22 sized baffles and bulk the can up with 2 or 3 6.5mm baffles. Makes a fair amount of sense. I personally don't own one (already had what I needed before I'd laid eyes on a DPT), but I've seen this with @stretch's one, and it's quite a neat solution. If I didn't have any, and had to buy cans for a couple of rifles, DPT is definitely the way I'd go

And if I want to get silly, I can take the baffle stack off my 30cal DPT and add it to my 223 DPT. Just don't do it the other way around.

For me, DPT is the sweet-spot compromise between weight, price, effectiveness etc. I use the SS baffle because I have seen the wear on baffles not protected by one.

I have one on my AR and it handles semi-auto fire. DPT specifies maximum rates of fire, but I haven’t had an issue. No mag dumps, just culling mobs of goats.

I've mag dumped a number of times with a dpt on sn AR shooting goats and never an issue. My hardys gen5 works well too very quiet but a bit more $$$

@DPT - What is the specified rates of fire? I am after it for a 300 blackout Ar15 with a 12.5" barrel, stainless baffle installed. Cheers,

In the latest rod and rifle there is a big test story on suppressors have not read it myself i have a gun works suppressor on my 308 works good and a DPT on my 270wsm with a stainless baffle that works good to for the price and turn around time DPT is hard to beat

The article in R&R is a very good read and objective test comparison of lots of suppressor options. If you’re in the market for a one then worth getting your hands on the mag and have a good study. There are heaps of options. Myself I have a few DPTs and Gunworks, and I rate the DPTs. Another option to consider is the ASE cans, they’re slightly heavier but steel and very compact, only 100mm past muzzle. If you’re going to put a lot of rounds thru the cans, especially rapid fire then the ASE is worth considering. I have one on my 7mm08 bush pig.

I have both DPT and Gunworks.
Both are good, but DPT’s just a Fraction better
And Darren’s great to deal with.
