    Experiences with this thermal unit?

My brother has an issue with pigs especially doing damage round his rural property and a mate has suggested he look at one of these:

Do any of guys have this exact Guide Track unit or have first-hand experience with one?

Before I worried about a thermal for pigs I would flick a spotlight around at 10pm and if non are seen again at 3am if you are determined to look for them at night. Otherwise if you have a day of rain that clears warm in the late afternoon the pigs will out in force and easy to shoot. The other way is follow them into the bush at daylight as they bumble their way back to their bedding area.

I have no exp with Guide
But Thermal is brilliant for Pig control as you can literally walk right up to them - they are so different at night
I shot one at 6m 3 mornings ago at 5am
Another two stayed put to - but in bush and could not get a clear shot away
    I use Pulsar
    Pard is also proving popular
A 2nd hand Pulsar would be my choice over a new Guide - just on what I have heard - hope one day to get to look thorough a Guide
Careful what model you buy if go that route.

Don't forget to turn off light after you shoot if it is not a drop shot
Pigs run straight up the light

Put out a trail camera as well, pigs are creatures of habit and will often turn up at about the same time, the camera let's you turn up at the most opportune time. If spotlighting, a red led seems best, they don't get as skittery as with white light. Thermal or nv are brilliant but you have to weigh up the expense . I use a thermal imager and nv combo for pest control i started with the thermal and spotlight but animals quickly get light shy so added the nv, and it certainly is a big step up from just spotlighting.

I bought one of these when they were $2k on sale.

Good for pigs. I use it for spotting in conjunction with a LED torch mounted on my rifle.
