Sling swivels break but not usually the sling itself.
I used a piece of 1" flat climbing tape. At 1800kg my gun will break before the sling. Most of this tape is tubular now but this was nice and soft yet firm sideways so it doesnt bunch up and there is enough texture to stop it sliding off my shoulder. Only problem is it soaks up a lot of water in the rain and makes a puddle in the gun case or on the floor.
For winter i made a sling out of narrow roof rack tie down tape. Its very light and soaks up no water. Slips off my shoulder a bit.
I like to tie the front of the sling directly round the barrel. No swivel to squeak or break. Slides up the barrel to tighten whatever clothes you are wearing on the day. The attachment point is closer to the muzzle so suppressor doesnt get get tangled in vines. Do test whether your gun still shoots ok with the small weight hanging off the barrel. Mine does, anyway.
I sewed one sling with 1mm kevlar about 6 strands joined by diuble fishermans knot and another just with strong polyester thread on the sewing machine many very fine but 3mm wide zigzag stitches like a bar tack. Until I had tested for correct length ovrr a few months i used a double figure 8 knot on one end so it was adjustable. But then stitched both ends - foolproof and simple
