Howa 1500 223 not ejecting rounds?

Hi all, I bought a second hand howa 1500 223 took it out after work yesterday to sight in shoots amazing but won’t eject the rounds out fully they just land on top of the next round to go in. Has anyone else found this and if so any idea how to fix it? Still went out and shot 20-30 rabbits and hares, with turning it upside down so the round would fall out, this became very frustrating when we came across these

Is the ejector protruding from the bolt face properly when you open the action?

Broken or bound spring, broken or hung up plunger.
post a pic of the bolt and can advise you how to disassemble, or search it up yourself.
Is that just a picture of the boltface will do it after work thanks

watch it closely as you slowly work the action on your lap with an empty case it should be pretty obvious what is causing them to hang up and fall back in

I wouldn't change a thing if you can nail 5 pigs in one go, good shooting.

Does that plunger protruding through the bolt face move in and out (under a little spring pressure) when poked with a kebab stick or bullet tip?

Yes it does, I would say it’s quite firm to push in

Remove it by tapping out the 1mm roll pin on the side of the bolt. Be carefull not to loose the plunger as it is under pressure from the spring.

Clean the plunger, spring and hole. Assemble and test.

I suspect there are some copper shavings and dust in there somewhere.

Stiff? Gritty? or does it slide in and out smoothly?

Mine did this, was a faulty extractor spring and not the ejector.
Basically the extractor was losing its grip on the rim before fully extracted so the ejector was just flicking the case forward instead of out.
