Thread: Importing Scope Rings?

Greetings,

Just wondering if we need any permits or tickets to import scope rings from overseas under the new laws? I was asked to produce my license when purchasing a pair in-store today so am wondering if its under one of the many new rammed through laws?

My understanding is that you need a permit to import just about anything gun related at present. A mate had ascope held up at customs for not getting a permit so I would obtain one. Cheers

Nor should you have to produce your licence locally for a rings purchase.

As per @Kimber 7mm-08 you can apply for a permit buy they will "decline" your application. I have a copy of exactly the same reply from them.
You used to need a permit a few years back but not now.
It can be useful though to ask the question as did Kimber 7mm-08 and then if customs tries to be "unhelpful" you can produce your letter from the police.
