    International purchases

Spoke to a guy at GunCity who said I could purchase firearms through them from sites like Gunbroker in the US. The price would be about triple that listed. Is this a good way to go about getting those harder to find shooty thingys? Anyone else got tips for buying from overseas?

Import permits used to be the go BUT....... Police have decided that they'd rather fuck you around at your expense and make up the law as they go along furthering their agenda.

Because we all know that solves crime, increases public safety and increases stolen firearms recovery rates!

there are other brokers who will do the same thing for US$250 (export permit fees AT&F) plus a percentage 4-10% of the value plus freight. so a US$1000 firearm plus $250 plus say 10% would come to US$1350, don't know about freight but maybe $150-$200 per firearm.....

So lets say a total of US$1500 which at the current exchange rate of 74 cents comes to a total of NZ$2027.

    plus GST @15% =NZ $304

    Plus associated customs/broker fees $100?

So probably you could do it yourself for 2.4-2.5 times the US purchase price into NZ$.

Gun city on the other hand are tag teaming your purchase onto their either exisiting export permit or a bulk permit application, and their bulk freight deal and their bulk customs fees cost reducing each of those to effectively a very small amount. When you consider that the direct cost of US$1000 means NZ$1350 and GST for that is $202.... at 3 times there is almost an extra $1500 going to GC for very little extra direct cost.

Tell em to do it for 2.5 times... they still make a good buck and they can sort it all out for you... win/win

Step one. Go to your AO and ask for a import permit for such reasons( I'm assuming you're A Cat? In which case you shouldn't need a permit but run it by him and get his take).

Then if permit is needed just fill it out and do what's required.

They have been fucking people around with permits like no body's business particularly anything AR related being borderline no go. So much so that there is a case before the courts from a private prosection.

If he wants to import a rifle, he will definitely need an import permit. A Cat or not.

Not sure why say anything AR being "borderline no go". You must have a shit AO. I have had zero issues with any AR permits, A or E, even within the last month.

You need an import permit for all A cat firearms or actions.

It isn't a cheap way of getting a firearm unless it not readily available here
