Thread: Laser sights

Is it worth adding a laser sight for busting coons - thought it might be handy for in really close etc where the scope is a bit of a hassle?

Red vs green?
Warm up time?
Buy off tard / deal extreme?
Any of them better than others?

Never used one in anger, they sound like a good idea but???

My uncle had a laser on his air rifle. was green just flick it on there was no waiting for it to warm up. was awesome cause you could shoot accurately from the hip. you can sight them in too so could be worth having it set close for possums and such where you dont have to really look through the scope when you're within the close range have your scope set for stuff further out.

I got one. I seemed to work ok. (its suppose to show the whole beam, not just a dot) but as I was playing with it, it seem to get harder to see the beam, I used a new battery, then asked they guy if I had a faulty one. he just said it doesn't show up well in the cold. just hold your hand on it he said. I said, yeah right ride around at night holding it in my hand.
and it hasn't left my work bench since.

We use lasers either Infrared or red that have been dimmed with night vision goggles for close shots on deer where you havn`t time to switch to a Nightscope.
Other than that my personal opinion is use a lower powered scope.Most are not good at holding point of aim. Branches in the way and the like are a bugger with lasers.

Never had any problems with this,Red with elevation and windage adjustment to sight in.Not a cheap piece of crap either,must be 20 someodd years old.

They're stupid gimmicks except IR with NV when there's less options for other sighting systems

Madjon, I have one of the JR lasers as well, Never holds point of impact & a shit to sight with the fiddly little allen keys.

Good for pointing out possums to others in your hunting group - other than that fairly useless
