Righto, with the proviso that opinions are like bumholes here goes.

Step one, ignore the scope completely. Set up the stock for your arms and body and get the LOP right for what you need to be comfortable shooting the rifle. Once you've got that right, then move onto the scope and mounts.

Step two is scope and mounts, might be helpful to remove the front ring/base completely and only hang the scope with the rear ring (even if only loosely) at the first stage so you can get the eye relief right and once you've done that you now have a measurement to work from.

Step three is finding a set of mounts that will allow you to hang the scope securely at the eye relief you need. As suggested you may need a pic rail, even with the front end shaved down to clear the objective curve. If you can't complete step three you need another scope.

Height you can work with at step four - stick on foam or a butt wrap or a cheek piece etc etc if needed, but you can usually work with the scope 3/4 of an inch up or down it's really the least critical dimension length of pull and eye relief are critical, height above bore not so much provided it's in the comfortable range.
    Stump and Roarless20 like this.
