Spoiled for choice really - four good levers in 22LR to choose from.
Winchester 9422 a gem, as are Marlin 39A and Browning/Mirokus, and Ruger model 96 lever also an excellent wee hunter. Which one you buy is simply down to personal preference, and more importantly, what comes available. All good.
Henry 22LR levers not so good - as noted above. After a few rounds mine shot all over the place due to heat distortion with skinny little barrel. Their 17HMR with heavy octagonal barrel "might" be better, but you'd want some very good good independent test confirmation before you looked hard at it.
Levers marvellous fun - everyone should have some in the closet at some time. Real fun action..

Thanks for the input guys, both the Brownings and the Marlin look pretty bloody good to me. Sounds like henry is a no go! Will have to see what pops up after lockdown.

As a youngster I did a lot of shooting with a Marlin mod 57M (M for 22WMR)
It was a great shooter, short lever action. only down side was weight
More recently I had a Ruger model 96/22M (22WMR) these are hard to find in NZ, It was nice and light and a good shooter. I did get a trigger job and lighter springs fitted.

Speaking of the Ruger 96 look what popped up on TM today.
Someone must be looking at the lever action posts and decided to get in while there is interest.
