Looking at semi auto shot guns to buy

I have sold my pump and got offered a hatsan for$300 that shot fine at our local shoot last weekend.
I rang the local shot gun god and asked him what he thought and in between guffaws he can get a beretta a300 for
    $1300 brand new.
Who has one or knows about them as don't know much about shottys!
I will be using it for hares and rabbits parries and a bit of helicopter culling with a bit of luck.
I can't justify a $3000 rig as I am more a practical shooter that as long as it's reliable I'm happy

What can I say, You get what you pay for especially with semi-auto shotties. If it fits and you shoot well with it then buy it providing you may find it poos itself with a bit of hard use, Any shottie can fail but the less it cost the more likely it will. I would be looking for a S/H Benelli M2 for what you want or a rem 1100 of you want a gas operated one. The remis have issues bit they are known and usually easilly fixed. However if you are only going to use it 1-2 time a year then it will do the job.

    I got it wrong!
It was the outlander he told me $1300 not the a300 .
Seems to have good reviews so any one got one?

Can't go wrong with a new beretta. I have two. An extrema 2 and a older A303. Neither miss a beat.

Seriously look at the Remington VersaMax over the Beretta - the design of the Remington is better, simple, innovative and shoots smoother all round. I shoot Browning now as happy to spend a bit more. If a little price sensitive then maybe consider a Fabarm?

Never see a Beretta semi in the 3 gun competition circles, only Benelli and Remington seen to be able to "handle the jandal" so to speak.

Having said that, I own at present a Remington 870, a Beretta U/O and a Browning U/O. I brought the Browning last. If you want something cheap and built like a tank maybe a Baikel might do

I have a pump because I now shoot in the "heavy metal" class (single stack 45, pump action 12g and iron sight 308 (currently borrowed )

I have unfortunately had two remingtons and both had issues. After a good look over each to find out what the issue is I found the source of the problem, it had remington stamped on the side. If you can find a second hand benelli you will never go wrong. Extremely simple and reliable design. I now shoot a Beretta a400 extreme and love it. Anything from beretta new will work a treat. Brownings also work really well.

+1 on the Fabarm. Quite a lot less $$$ than the other Italians but the same quality. Very soft shooting and will handle any load. Anyone who owns one that I've come across raves about them, me included.

I'd avoid the Rem 1100 if you want to shoot steel at any time, they just don't seem to cope with the increased push on the action and bend.

    +1 on the Baikal MP-153.

They're cheap and enjoy being treated as such.

Get a shot gun that fits, or at least one wit shims to make it fit. Make and model isn't the be all and end all, most new shotguns are reliable.

Baikal or ATA. I've had the flowery shit and used others and quite frankly I think they are so over priced for what you get it's silly. Each one of those expensive things had some sort of issue. Whether it was you couldn't adjust the stock right, had to use a mag extension cause of their piss poor load capacity (if your machine shooting smaller critters you will need one), noisey, whatever.

Get a ATA 20ga and you're good to go, six rounds standard, reliable and cheap.

I purchased an A300 Outlander Black Synthetic and i have two friends who also have them. My two friends shoots a lot of clays and rarely clean these guns.......they just keep working. The A300 is Beretta's budget shotgun......it cost about 1/2 what the A400 cost or Browning Maxus, or most Benelli guns and it is a clever design in the following ways: It has the exact same updated gas system as Beretta's expensive offerings, but the bolt system of the older 390/391series. The blak synthetic comes with a spacer for L.O.P. and shims for a custom fit at a budget price. To me, it is a hell of a shotgun for the money. The barrel, receiver, are made of the same quality materials of Berettas over priced "premium" 400 series. I have shot both and actually prefer the Outlander . The Magazine tube is not designed to accept an extension, thus the gun is not suitable for 3 gun.....it is a hunting and clays shotgun.
