Little and often, don't let it build up.
A little moly grease (a little is a slight amount on a cotton tip barely visible) on receiver and bolt contact patches like recoil lugs, and on the outside of the metal work a persistent corrosion preventer. Lanocote or LPS3 or something of those lines, nothing inside the barrel or chamber and nada on the lenses of the scope. Springs will still rust on a stainless gun, so they need a coating of some sort too.
