Thread: Machining suppressor bush for tapered barrel

Have had my DPT overbarrel silencer on my AR for a while now minus the bush in the back end, mainly because my barrel tapers and is thicker leading up to the thread than it is at the rear of the suppressor.

Anyone got any ideas on the best way to fit that bush seeing as if it's milled tight on the barrel it won't fit over the thread?
My only idea has been to mill it to fit and split it in half and glue it back together on the barrel.....

Yeah that's another option I suppose, hadn't really considered that. I figured that thick piece is there for a reason, but it's probably more aesthetic than function

It's a shoulder for the thread.

If you split it you are always going to have the bit missing from the cut and it won't be round.
if you had a bush made and bored and threaded in two pieces it could be assembled on the barrel and tightened into the suppressor with no glue at all and still be removable.

Or machine down that shoulder to just less than the diameter where the bush needs to sit.

I think a 2 piece bush will be the ideal, Know anyone locally that can do it VC?

na suppressor will hold the bush.

if you can remove the bushing to machine it and its large enough then get an oil shaft seal of the right size and machine it to fit in there. i make silencers with out isolation tubes and use them to seal the rear end. works great!
