Could some one tell me just where the VX.R and VX3i sit in the line up of the leupy range
The VX.R has a higher price point {manufactures spec} but it sits below the VX3! on the site.
I'm not sure I totally understand the function of the VX.R

No 100% sure. I have heard the VX R is not as good optically but don't really know. The Leupold web site might be helpfull?Quote:

If it's for a dedicated bush rifle the illumination is a great feature in my opinion. A mate of mine has the 3-9 VX R and prefers it to his Swarovski for the bush. Very quick target acquisition.Quote:

The VX-R has a much thicker reticle and is designed for low light usage, hence the illumination. They make a good bush scope but not so good for long range. I've got one on my AR & the dot is great for that type of shooting.
S.O.D = screw on dial, its a Leupold factory option that you can fit yourself and also make it a zero stop by inserting a ball/pin i believe. I will PM you

I have a 3x9 VXR on my 270 and I recommend it. I hardly ever remember to turn the red dot on to be honest though.
I'll probably have my VX-R 3-9x40 fire dot recticle (mil) for sale soon as I've upgraded to a VX6
Leupold have launched their new VX6 HD, so currently VX6s are dirt cheap in the states. id head that route.
