Years back Greg Duley did an article on Rem 700 with the new x-mark trigger, basically there is a point that you can’t lower it below, about 2.5lb from memory.

@stug thanks for your input. It would be great to get it to 2.5lbs if only I could get my hands on that article.
I do know you can get a trigger spring in the states but getting it here is difficult. I have read on the Gunworks website for the Timney 521 their gunsmiths can only get them down to 3-3.5lb which is not a big advantage over the factory for price.
Buy a timmney and be forever happy, as a side note the lighter firing pin has nothing to do with trigger pull weight it may reduce lock time and the other benefit is reducing the weight of the assembly therefore the weight of the rifle.
I've had timmney triggers on a few rifles that the factory trigger was difficult to tune and have found it to be money well spent
I have to shoot left handed and I like short rifles and I like 243.
About ten years ago there was Model 7 in the local shop with all the above likes.
I faltered and missed it, great regret, kind of like choosing the wife instead of a rich, athletic nymphomaniac.
Timney triggers are base model compared to Triggertechs which are often the same or less money for 2-3x the trigger.
My M7 7mm08 did well with some 150grain ELDX handloads today.

nah...put in a jewel....oh shite they are a sweeeeeet trigger .
If anyone knows of a decent wooden stock for a Model 7, Im all ears. Wanting to make a lifetime rifle and would prefer an older wooden stock. Or, completely the opposite end of the scale, one of those nice carbon stocks......maybe. The plastic stock just doesnt do it for me eh!
It seems I may have to look for an aftermarket option and start saving in the toy fund. It seems the trigger tech is the best option to get down to the lightest pull weight.
I have a new timney Im not using, trigger pull gets to 1.5 lb apparently. Cost $400 to get in last year. Would sell for $350 +postage
I have one of the above Timney's on my Mod 7saum, they are easily adjustable between 1.5lb - 4lb. I have it set at 1.5lb and it is a nice trigger. IMHO 1.5 is about as low as you'd want to go on a general hunting rifle.
Cheers
Just recently got this Remington Model 7 from Friwi on the forum - super happy with it. In 308, with a 17inch barrel. Beautiful balance and great to handle. Nabbed it's first fellow yearling early this morning.
These are so hard to find! would be keen on a 708 / 308 / 300wsm in stainless :)
Spanners has one for sale from memory
300wsm ? I know they came out in 7SAUM but never heard 300wsm in Model7
Anyone looking for a pic rail for a Rem 7?
Not a fault at all mate. It will find a happy home on the forum.

Nah man. Long gone
@karldug, have you checked with Wilsons in Whanganui? It was a couple of years ago but I saw several on the shelves in there.
Saw a good looking model 7 260 @ H&F Chch.... was a bit sad leaving it there :O_O:
I’ve had 3 M7s. A 300 SAUM and 2 260s. Still have the 260s.
One of the 260s

Just acquired this in 260. She's a bit rough and had a hard lifeI'd say but will be a good base for new build. 6 Creed maybe but will see how she shoots with factory ammo first.
Any unwanted stocks or triggers floating around?
