    Mold and Old

I have a mold prob in my gunsafe.
Its dry.. and has 2 dehumidifier thingies in it, dont have any issues with rust

But i get a white mold that grows on both timber and metalwork. Wipes off ok.
The safe smells 'old' as its 1/2 full of stuff thats 70-100 yrs old, and thats to be expected really.
The 1930s and 40s must have stunk if 303 slings are anything to go by LOL

Anyone have any tricks, hints or ideas on how to get rid of it?

When you wipe it off do you use a disinfectant or vinegar solution? The spores may still be there if you just wipe it, you possibly need to nuke it all

Sounds like me wiping off the tears when I can't afford some of the guns you have had for sale in the past.....I'm sure you would but If you use something to kill it probably best to be safe and test it so that it doesn't damage any metalwork etc.
    Cheers.

Had it once on some leather bayonet frogs white mould and the brass rvets were covered in verdigris, wiped them over with savlon seemed to do the trick. Also suspect that sumlight will kill it

Mix up some ballistol with some clove oil. Give it a good shake, slosh a bit on a rag, wipe everything down. Problem solved. Clove oil is cheap, like $12 for a little bottle off the pharmacy websites. If the slight clove smell bothers you (it will dissapate) add a bit of orange oil to the solution

Mix 50:50 vasaline and petrol. About 5l should do. Throw it over everything and set it on fire.
    Krameranzac and Tommy like this.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
