    Just taking the piss

Some sort of vapour killer/fix would be ideal.. its hard enough to close the door on the safe as it is without pulling everything out LOL

nope, bleach does not kill mold (ask professional painters or cleaners). you will just be spreading the spores around...

    vinegar destroys the spores.

Cheers, I get the same problem on a few wooden stock rifles (not the old WW2 rifles... go figure).
    Vinegar it is.

best bet is meths thinned with 30% water, we used to use ethanol at the museum. It kills all mould cells by rupturing the cell membrane and dehydrating it plus it doesn't attack any metal work or damage wood work.

Meths and clove oil, in a pan. Natural evap. In the bottom of safe.

Or for the initial, with one of those sonic fog generators for a day or 2 in the safe. Then followed by a dehumidifier for a bit....
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

Do you have access to a gamma emitter? Just gotta line your safe with lead a little bit.

Meths would probably be the best shot, but in my Vineyard i spray Potassium bicarbonate to kill fungi and mould, baking soda will do the same, and also resists rust

Exit Mould (from the supermarket) is what I'd use on the safe (not on the guns), it will stop the problem coming back.
Be sure to wipe the solution off with a clean wet rag afterwards.
