My new 3D printed 338LM can

ODL has just printed my can , its getting the finish colour on it now , will post a pic when its here .

Similar to what I tested late laste year , it goes onto a AI tac brake , the large 2 chamber one .

ODL are also making covers for their cans now , will be getting one of those as well .

    What's the can made of?
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Chris does this suppressor require the AI muzzle brake as mentioned in a earlier thread, if so what barrel thread is required and how available are the AI brakes. Cheers

You would have to see Bert about maybe getting a version thats direct thread IF you donot want to go the AI brake route , the AI brake is not cheap , I think $500 approx ? , anyway its threaded 18x1.5mm RH & has a straight section as well for the clamp part of the brake to snug up .

The can when going over the brake is anti - clockwise , as its a LH thread , has 2 o-rings in the back of the can .

The cover is like some out of the US , some king of heat shield material inside then cordura nylon outer , donot know if he is going to make the one seen available , I know he is making a velco closing model & thats the one hse is sending me .

So as to be clear the muzzle needs to have a 18x1.5mm RH thread of a certain lenght and a straight section of a certain dia & lenght , for the brake to mount correctly .

Thanks for that Chris, keen on a lightweight can to fit both a TRG 338 (18x1.5 thread)and a custom Lapua 300MAG.
Where would be the better place to get a AI muzzle brake

Just see that ODL have put the 338LM can up on thier website , price $1485 , RE the AI brake , the best way to get anything AI related is from Sporting Services in the UK if you can import yourself or a local dealer .

If you are after a direct thread model , just get in touch with Bert , I know he has done at least one .

I would like ODL to make their own steel brake with maybe a locking mech , and if they did , then they could offer it in say , 18x1 ( Sako ) , 18x1.5 ( AI ) & say 5/8 , all using the same can , just they would sell you the can & the brake that suits your rifle , then they would be a one shop stop for us in NZ anyway , nice to dream .

Remember these are in two colours , Black & Tan .
