Tactfully, I hope :>) I mention that you may have overlooked this, which I "cut 'n paste".

".....The term 'battle rifle' is a neologism. It was first used in the late 1990's by various firearms publications and by several notable firearms writers. It is not defined or frequently used in military field manuals and government documents. There are some U.S. government requisition requests that do make mention of the "MK14 Enhanced Battle Rifle",[2] but those documents may just be using the manufacturer's designation. Prior to the 1990s, the term was not well defined and was used as a general description for all types military rifles......"

I defy anyone to dismiss the magnificent Enfield with this neologic term.

I just feel that if you like the term enough to use it, you ought to stick to the accepted definition.

whether it's an assault Rifle or a Battle rifle is of little consequence.

What does matter is you got yourself a very nice looking WWII Rifle, at a reasonable price, that will give you much pleasure from the restoration process as well as range and hunting trips.

I look forward to seeing how you progress with this rifle.

    Cheers

I hope to get a M1 carbine, I think they are awesome little guns.
Maybe blast a few goats or a few rabbits with it.

Shame they are hard to come across.

    How much does it weigh?

But it's not select fire, so it can't be an assault rifle either... :p

They were one of the first rifle to have a night vision scope too, it was a huge thing so the rifle needed to be light to compensate.
