upgrading my t3 300winmag to a rem 700 5r , should i go all out on a nightforce or go for a sightron or similar and spend the xtra on trigger , bedding etc. have already decided to go with hardy suppressor , want to get to 800/1000 reliable results. pic of t3 Attachment 6113

Welcome to the forum.
Keep the Tikka, no reason to upgrade the rifle
What glass are you using on the Tikka ?
Tell us some more about distances you are shooting at and specific issues that makes you feel that an upgrade is required.
hav fx3 12x40 knw this is one of limiting factors but want to go to high bc 208 amax wont fit in mag

your current set up should get you right out there by the looks of it,
outshoot your current set up then look to upgrading, atleast then the new rifles barrel isnt taking the brunt of the wear
nessary things in my mind are - rangefinder, notebook, handload with a nice high BC bullet with acompanying chrony reading and drop chart, big target IE gib board size. then just time and recording in your note book correcting the dropchart
on the bright side this is the fun bit, rather than waiting on parts in the mail and having an incomplete rifle
rabbits 3-400, deer 4-500

Ditch the can too. Heavy, unwieldly and impractical for LR shooting. Ask KG to do you a brake and you can thank me later.
Oh, and welcome aboard.
have a t3 shortnd 308 bush carrying magpies/rabbits/deer good up to 3-400,nt worried about weight , nt interestd in wearn ear protection for brake

the hybrid VLD and the new Acubond that's on the way also look good on paper but as my current barrel on the 300RUM is slow twist I can't use them ... Will be going back to a faster twist when I wear out the current barrel :)
still expand longrange?

Buy the Rem then. Suppress it and buy the Nightforce. You asked for advice not me.

I'm shooting the 162 A-Max in 7Mag and it is a good bullet. Can't help with the 30. Unless your hunting off a quad a big heavy gun is going to eventually fuck you off. Same goes for an over scoped setup.

None.
Might be a bit nicer to shoot and possibly easier to tune but weight won't make it a shooter.
Have you read about how light some of the local hunting "gurus" are building big guns?
