    New police online licence process.

Just went through it today. Was actually really easy and bloody quick. Quicker and more efficient than the old way
I just took the completed form into the cop shop and a few hours later the seller had an email from the police confirming I'm a good bugger...

    Pleasantly surprised.

Yeah. Printed off the form, filled out what I could, took it in and all good...

So is the only difference your filling in the details at home instead of the police station?
But you still go to the police station to get everything verified?

Yes. And they'll take the form themselves rather than you mailing it to the buyer/seller.

Works great when there's somebody there who will do it.

It's not online as such, so no actual web page to visit and do the business.

Just done the same thing. Took a while for the guy at the desk to get his head around it, but fingers crossed the remainder of the transaction goes smoothly and I'm making black clouds come Saturday.

Unless you live in Central Otago... in which case your printed form gets sent from your local police station via their internal mail system to Dunedin where, a few days later, somebody gets around to doing the necessary checks and eventually let's the seller know you're a good bugger. Plan on it taking a minimum of 3 days but more likely 4 to 5 days.
