Long story but worth a read:
I was at the range yesterday and a guy was there sighting in his brand new Sako 85 Finnlight in 308 with a nice zeiss conquest hd5 2-10. He was getting frustrated as he wasnt getting it to group. He said this was day two of trying to get it to work for him, using about 4 boxes of ammo. When he walked off in frustration i looked at his set up. I instantly saw his issue. Gun city had mounted the weaver rings back to front, with the tapered bases facing the opposite way to the taped reciever top. This meant only the leading edge was holding the bases to the scope. This has caused the scope to slide forward under recoil, moving the rear mount off the rifle so it was hanging in mid air. The front mount had stayed put, with the scope moving inside the ring. This resulted in the black finish and metal being stripped off the new scope. Upon feeling it you could feel a ridge in the finish where the scope had been compressed due to over tightening. So this poor bugger had wasted hours, closer to $300 on ammo, and a new scope wrecked because the "experts" at Shit City couldnt even mount a scope. I really felt for this guy as his new pride and joy set up was fucked.
My suggestion is to go anywhere but Gun City, not only are they average at what they do, but they are normally more expensive than everywhere else.
The gun set up sounds awesome.
