I haven’t had any dealings with him, but at one stage I was looking to buy an Innomount scope mount and he had some for sale. In the end I wasn’t convinced enough that it was genuine Innomount (comparing to others I have) to buy from him. The photos on his listing appeared to have some differences to the ones I already have (looked to be different material used in part of the clamping mechanism), so ended buying from Optics Trade.
I think he's been asked about multiple times on the forum for selling knockoff items.
Appears like he's still at it years later: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketpl...ing/5451699331
Ok thanks, I’ve noticed his English has the nuances of it not being his first language.
His feedback is 99% positive so I will dwell on it for the weekend![]()
No doubt that scope mount come out of the exact same factory that makes the branded one $600. It kind of a no-brainer to buy it from hom for $200, unless you think the name tag is worth $400![]()
Nah mate - you’re just showing your ignorance. Innogun is a German company and manufacture everything in Germany. There is no way you will buy an Innogun scope mount for $200.
If you’re happy to buy a Chinese copy that’s up to you, but I’m not going to, and it was around $500 so not much cheaper than buying the real thing. It has nothing to do with the name, it was a mount for a Blaser R8 and I personally consider the Innomount to be superior to the Blaser factory mount because of the method it attaches to the barrel - a clamping action rather than the cam action of the factory mount.
Never miss a chance though to insult someone though, you’ll have good company on here.
I’m with Sauer, generally avoid Chinese crap like the plague. Would rather buy good quality used gear, be it euro, Japanese, US than a cheap Chinese knock off.
This trader has quite a bit of Thermal gear, some good brands 2nd hand.
The reason why I asked if he was known on here, was 1. Trust (he has 99% positive feedback) and 2. To see if I could contact him. If I’m going to part with a few k, I want to make sure I’m getting what I pay for…
Mate, I agree with you, and the interesting thing about slinging insult around...it's usually a result of not being raised properly and and being unable to communicate in a respectfull manner. Not doubting your general knowledge, but the large majority of manufacturers throughout the world outsource their branded products to be manufactured in China. Not only because manufacturing costs are lower, but also because its also its the most highly qualified labour force in the world in regards to university qualifications. I'm not "pro-Chinese" products in any way, but many brand suppliers get their products manufactured in China or elsewhere and then assemble it back in their own country and market it as being manufactured there. Not saying this is the case with Innogun, but if you want to refer to ignorance, then maybe first address the people who talk about "cheap Chinese stuff" without having a real understanding of what are talking about.
Its mark
Warthog - you buy what suits you and I’ll buy what suits me (If that’s okay of course).
You’re the one who said I was paying way too much to buy a ‘name tag’, which simply isn’t true. Anyway, the original question was regarding dealings with a particular trader on Trademe, and I offered my opinion. You’re the one who had to turn the discussion into something else which came across as cheap points scoring.
