That is a bastard, getting bloody difficult to send anything firearms related anywhere.
It is not a gun part...it is an accessory...it is not an integral part of the gun. NZPost and DHL can go fark themselves. I could tape a fork to the end of the barrel if I wanted to...can't send a fork oseas. Clowns.
Here the definition they use:
Firearms (inc. parts and ammunition)
Firearm parts are any piece of a firearm that is designed or intended to be an integral part of a firearm, regardless of whether it is in working condition. Firearm parts include, but are not limited to, the breech/chamber, stock/butt, magazine, silencer, barrel, bolt and trigger assembly.
So WTF?! Argh #&^#^#^@ers

If past experience is anything to go by Night force in Oz will sort you out, Ive dealt with them a few times and they went out of their way to help.
Cheers
They seem great...now to get the scope to them somehow. Figure I'll get the mrs to post it to QG Exchange.
I looked at EMS...but their intl carrier is NZ Post FFS. I'm hitting the whiskey before I blow a farken valve.
Hahaha fuk man I feel your pain.
I went to send an expensive scope back to Leupold, packaged it up & took it into NZ post, old Dorris behind the bits of wire asked me the value & what it was. I stupidly said it was a rifle scope, As soon as those words left my lips I knew I'd f up. bloody hell you would of thought I had a hand grenade in the box. :o :melt: I was luckly that I just took it to another postshop the next day & said it was a spotting scope for watching birds
If you get really stuck, try your local gun shop & they might be able to help you out :)
Yes I am quite good at weasel words if I may so.... but this is connected to being integral. A scope is not integral...but not limited doesnt come into play.
Will resend as birding scope. Hell no reason it couldn't be.
Bird scope, star scope just don't tell em you shoot for the moon. Oh and leave a note for the return sender to do the same:thumbsup:
Yes hopefully they return a brand new replacement scope (for birdwatching).
Use the word Telescope, then it kinda falls away from the thought of being anything firearm related. Good luck :)
I've sent two to leupold for turret installation , both gone as optical instruments, at the local post shop
I'm in a Sth Island town however, things maybe different in the northern city's.
Tried fast ways? No idea if they do international but they send guns for me so they're not scared
No it was intl center in Akld.

Surveyors theodolite
That would better explan the $3k value.
NZ Post Robbery
Have just sent a reloading component back to Oz - I ordered the wrong one.
Cost ~NZ$14.50 to get it here. Tracked OZ post.
Has cost me NZ29.04 to send back. Tracked NZ Post, same size and weight parcel. F..K!!
Also saw the sign which depicted prohibited export items via NZ Post so was careful with the description of my item. Have already had them display stupidity via YouShop and get the big run around.
It's 3 years since I sent 2 scopes to the States (without problems). I think I called them telescopes rather than telescopic sights. I was mindfull of fibbing to greatly beause of maybe issues at the States end with a description not matching contents.
I sent today as a theodolite. Will see. Rang the Intl Mail Centre today and got told call it anything but something to do with guns and will be fine. They suggested optical instrument - you know the system is poor when the staff have to unofficially tell you how to get around things. Also it cost $20 less to send the same parcel - so now I am only out of pocket $74.
@Tikka7mm08 did you get any sort of refund for the first attempt given they did not complete the service?
Not yet...rang 0800 and they were to going to apply for a "consideration"
So that was quick. They rejected it again as a prohibited item and it is already back at the Post Shop.
I can understand how people go 'postal'!! I guess I have to try one of the bigger courier companies, but not DHL.
Those NZ brought scopes aren't so bad a[emoji106]
Sorry

Well if I pay postage another 45 times without refund and without the scope being delivered I would be the first to agree with you. Is that too subtle?
Started a thread on scope postage as this is well past being about the scope.
Try pack and send on Blenheim road. I've sent a few stocks to Australia with them.
Thank you.
Update. Scope sent back from Oz 6 weeks ago and now told by Toll it is lost (never to be found). Claim in progress.
damn
correctly labelled and Insured?
hope it turns out well for you.
Thats bad shit right there.... What did you do wrong to suffer this crap :pissed off:
Pretty down about it....combined with other shit concurrently that puts it in perspective though.
I've identified the problem: your scope is cursed
