    Older timers..

When I was growing up, the gun oil seemed to be far different than what we get nowadays. It was thick, Dark, had a unique smell and you could soak a cloth in it and use it for months without it evaporating.

Is it just my faded memory of my youth, or was it actually a better product?

    Young’s oil

Always reminds me of my dad, and the smell of old spice in the bottle, and tobacco smells, and night time speed runs in a throaty RX2 with a twin dizzy 12a

Look after your parents, you will miss them terribly when they’re gone

Yep you guys got it! Didn't want to name it as thought it would be interesting to see if others thought the same. It seemed to be a better product than the thin stuff we get on offer now. and yep the smell was something equivalent too being a kid and sniffing a fired paper shotgun cartridge.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Hoppes used to make, or still do "Copper Cutter", brilliant stuff, but they either don't make it any more or it's not brought in. A shame.

Is that the one that smells like the yellow/gold rawleys man and beast? Reminds me of my grandfather the smell of my childhood lived in the top drawer between our beds in our bedroom their
