Omark Sportco M44 bolt head pin diameter

Have been reading up on sportco m44's and have a few questions that someone on the board might know the answers to.

Looking at an early sportco M44 action, top handguard model. Have seen warnings against bolts with small bolt head retaining pins but no specs on what the small pin diameters are, which makes checking a bit difficult. Anyone know the small/unsafe pin diameter? I can't see a smaller diameter than this one being possible with this design, so I suspect it's not been converted, but figure it's worth checking.

Anyone use them as the base for single shot hunting rifle builds? Hard to beat the quality at the price these go for. Turn down the barrel and receiver and minimize a stock and you'd have a heck of a handy simple single shot hunting rifle.

@canross, get hold of your local NRA club, or contact the old-school target gunsmiths like Harvey Westland or Mike Collings. One of them might still have some of the larger pins in the workshop.
