Thread: Open Sights on M70

I have decided to run some open sights on my 270 so have ordered a Skinner Peep from the US with a couple of apertures and a couple of different front blades to try on my original front sight ramp.
I've not run one of these setups before and was wondering if I should also be using a hood on the front sight? Rifle is missing the original one so will order one if they are required/desired when running a peep on the rear, I was thinking you could kind of get a ghost ring effect with the front hood on making it easier to determine a consistent sight picture? Cheers for any advice or opinions.
