Good idea thinking ahead, but $1000 will be way over kill for a 22 and you will probably find you will just need to buy one for your 22 once you take this one off, so I wouldn't bother tbh.

A Burris like I said would suit well, as would a Nikon Bickmaster or Prostaff.
I've never tried a Mueller scope so can't recommend one, but other seem to get good results from theirs.
I prefer a lighter scope on most rifles without too many features, hence why I am quite biased towards the Burris.

If you're thinking of buying ANY optics out of US that's "tactical" , has dial up or ballistic recticle then you're not going to have much luck. Avoid Optics Planet like the plague. I tried to buy several things off them this year and the pissing around was unbelievable & in the end they refused to supply. Even though I had a mate in US whose address I could use for delivery. So don't give them a second look. You'd think that good ol NZ was a hot bed of terrorism
If you're after a simple scope for 22 then you could get ex USA - try Natchez or Sinclairs. NOT Optics Planet !
But for these sort of scopes just keep you on this site or TradeMe - plenty of good deals.
