    Out of adjustment

    Hi everyone,

I’ve got a S&B in Optilocks on a Sako 85, bore sighted the scope and found I was dubious about how low it was and after factory and hand loads it’s still 7” low at 100yds and the dial is on the stop of the vertical adjustment. Windage is near centre, all the hardware was torqued properly etc.

I’m pretty stumped so if someone has any fix’s for this or any advice I’m all ears, thanks in advance.

Are you getting any vertical adjustment at all?

What would happen if scope was turned 90 degrees so windage becomes vertical?

Yes, I started by winding it back to centre of the windage adjustment and shot it, was very low and worked up until I ran out of adjustment but still too low. It needs to be 3.6” high at 100yds for the load I’ve got and I don’t want it sitting against the stop either

A1 reticle, be very confusing - maybe okay on shots running right to left or left to right!

You're not having supressor strikes? Happened to me with my PM2, took me a while to work out.

May have to shim, the mounts aren’t able to be swapped around

Does the scope have a zero stop and a one turn limit - as RO I've had a couple of blokes in the same situation (with Swaro's) and both were not resetting the scope to go past the "one turn limit", first guy had me stumped for a while, second time it was "haha- I might be able to help you with that"

What he said. Try unscrew elevation dial. Lift off and place back with "0" back at the original position before retightwning screws. This should give you another dials worth of elevation.

From memory the S&Bs have a small dial in the turret that shows how much elevation is left and it sounds like Uplander is saying it is indicating it has bottomed out.

Uplander have you got another scope you could fit just to see if it is your mounting system or a fault in the scope?

Are you sure you don't have an out of spec mount holding the scope?

    I have seen that before.

Try another scope on there and see how you go,or measure your mounts against another set of identical mounts.

Yep, try another scope before anything else, will eliminate the rifle or the scope, much easier less mucking around

I put the Contessa rail on and different rings, sat up quite a bit higher but still way to low. It’s also for sale but mounting g up in the mean time to see if it’ll do

    Ok
I’ll offer 1000 bucks for the scope and rifle as is.
Will take the risk that I can’t sort it.
