Is it possible to get a FN SCAR or ACR rifle here in NZ?

Basically, I don't like ARs, they have some design flaws that I just can't get over.

I'm just wondering if I can get a SCAR or ACR or similar rifle in NZ and what sort of price I'd be looking at, would get it in E-Cat.

Anyone used one or know someone who has one?

Price - shit loads. Some ACR's are in country but are rocking horse shit. The SCAR's aren't allowed in apparently, too short when folded.

Goodluck with that one. By design flaws i assume you mean the way the rifle is charged? Bring in a side charging upper, problem solved.

Yeah its the charging handle and bolt release that piss me off. if you could but the bolt release on the RHS and the charging handle on the LHS and make it piston rather than DI I'd be stoked.

Might have a chat to the AO about a fixed stock for a SCAR. Or trying to source an ACR.

What are the other rifles that are similar in design? I'm sure there is a coule more out there.

A piston is no advantage imo and a side charging upper with a bad lever sorts the issue. Or buy an slr.

Can you get a G36 or SL-8 without the ugly stock?

The spear mags guy can get a lower for the sl8 that uses ar grips and stocks. The sl8 is overpriced heavy and made of junk plastic. The trigger components are fuckin plastic too off memory.

H&K is making a civilian G36. Don't expect to ever see one here for years.

I dread to imagine the cost of getting the 17 Long with 1,067 mm (42.0 in) stock extended, 813 mm (32.0 in) stock folded to NZ.

Easiest way to solve your AR issues would be to just bring my AR back

So does anyone know where I can look at importing one from? SCAR or ACR, provided that I can get the import permit no problem.

SCAR might be significant military equipment, I'd heard on the Canadian board that the Americans wouldn't allow them to be exported. Could be bullshit. Ask Phil at Delta Sector. Expect to pay lots.
