    Posting a scope?

    Afternoon,

    Cheers

    I've sent quite a few scopes and other firearm related bits and pieces around the country. If I'm ever asked to names contents I think outside of the square. 'nuff said.

    Yep just say it’s photography equipment. Not A lie if used with phone scope.
    Only problem will be if something goes wrong and you need to make a claim.

    Postshop courier post costs $14 - $18 depending how far it’s going and rural or not, & size/weight. Wrap scope in bubble wrap, put in box (original if you have it, or make one up if you don’t. Wrap in corro cardboard or brown paper. Job done.

    Was in our local postshop a few weeks back, this guy rocks up with medieval sword about 5ft long. Lady says no worries just wrap it well in bubble wrap and sets him to work with a huge roll of the stuff.

    I have received and sent scopes with no issues.
    The NZ Post website says Firearms accessories can be sent if packaged properly.
    "Firearms accessories Prohibited item Can be sent only if packaged to withstand transport and handling"

    I sent a VX5 firedot, it cost about $38 to courier, it would have been cheaper just to go Parcel Post but cover is only $250 compared to $2000 for courier.

    Make sure you send it Courier Post, standard Tracked has a max cover of $250, against $2000 for the extra $3 for Courier. Will it fit the large $12 post bag when packaged. If I don't have the original box for packaging I bubble wrap and place in a piece of PVC pipe, tape the ends and send in large Post bag.

    a few years back i went to the local post shop, bought some packaging and a box to send a scope . did it in front of the boss of the shop who winked and went "crossbow right"
    and if you shoot a few bunnies too many feel free to drop them off here.
    guess it all depends who ya run into, the local post guy is great but guess when ya get to the big smoke it could alter

    if questions are asked (havent yet)
    scope = monocular
    reloading gear = tools
    cases = brass fittings
    stock = stick

    Go to the NZ post counter at your local chemist. They never want to know what your shipping.
    I know a lot but it seems less every day...

    Use any courier but NZ Pos, They are a disgrace the NZ, I haven't used them since the start of Covid, They lose parcels like you wouldn't believe,
    I swapped to Pass The Parcel they haven't lost anything I have sent, Their limit is 25 Kg
    Don't send a scope in a courier bag, use a couple of metres of bubble wrap and a cardboard box covered in Fragile stickers
    Troble is they will on pay out $250.00 is damaged or lost.

    Just say it out loudly, if asked, "it's a large expensive heavy duty sex toy for my mate's wife that I am returning"...
