    reset a scope reticle?

hi guys , sorry if its a dumb question , ... but , I just bought a dirty old m14 norinco , came with a package deal scope , mags suppressor etcetcetc ..... I took it to the range , 100 mtr and tried to get on target ... no matter how much I twiddled the adjustments the crosshairs never moved .... so my question is is there a base setting for scopes , as in turn one way till it stops then back 19 clicks to be in "neutral" ... is there such a thing on scopes ? just a guncity scope ... no name
    cheers

Are you talking about turning till it stops and then all the way the other way counting how many clicks and then dividing by 2 to find what should be the middle?

Not sure if cheaper scopes free spin when they get to the end of their travel?

Gimp is probably right though. But give it a try, but if your turning it with the rifle still and nothing is happening time for a one. Rock some irons

the gun has a rear iron sight , but as it comes with a suppressor , there is no front iron sight , .... not even sure who would have one ? ... maybe gun city keeps them when the put the can on them

You can adjust it all the way to one extremity and then from there count clicks all the way to the other extremity, then count half back, that will centre it

But if the crosshairs aren't moving when you click the adjustments, it's fucked

You can buy replacement front sights that replace the figure 8 looking part of the gas system, well worth buying if you use a can(every gun should use a can!!) as the open sights on a m14/m305 are some of the best ever put on a rifle

cheers for all the help guys , so I also had a laser bore "bullet" to line scope up ...at about 25 metres , the scope was high right .... screwd the height all the way to the left so it almost fell out of the scope and it came down , ... screwd the the other about the same and its almost on target at 25 ... it was in my backyard , I live residential so no real distance to play with , next week at the range I will do the 100 again , then the batteries died in the laser , .... the scope mount is shit IMHO , if you lose the little washer hidden behind the mount and try and tighten up the mount it impacts the bolt ... so backed it out , washer added where I can see it ... im thinkin I need to shim the scope ... this was a purchase to help a buddy out , .. the other thing is its failure to extract , which causes failure to feed , ... it looks like the cases are hitting the scope mount and falling back in .... I will remove and see if it fixes it , if so then just mill a bit out to clear cases .... or the extracter is fuked ..... my mate bought this new from gun city ...

who sells the front sights here in NZ ?
    cheers
