About LinkBacksActually I would get a .22lr rimfire first. Like a bolt action CZ or Marlin.
Go out and shoot it, learn good habits and then look at a centre like a 7mm-08, .260, 6.5x55 or .308.
Any of those will do and have moderate recoil.
Any of the brands that retail around $1300 new will do, ie Tikka, Howa, Savage.
