    Roughly double the energy at the muzzle from the 44mag, so yes a big difference. You can load either 'light' easily, even by using factory ammo (44 special in the 44, 38 special in the 357), just gotta be careful to clean the chamber when switching cartridges.

    There's a hell of a spread between the two. A light load in the 357/38 could be a 100gr projectile doing 1200 fps, vs a heavy in the 44sp/mag could be a 340gr doing 1500 fps. That's like comparing a funny stunted dolphin to a killer whale

    Mine's got the safety on the top, I don't think I noticed it for ages when I first got it! Only one time after cleaning first shit at the range failed to fire - I'd move tae safety whilst cleaning. I never use it.
    If you got a model with one and it bothered you that much there's videos on YouTube on how to remove it and fill the hole with a 25ACP case
