Factory Sako 90 Peak 6.5prc at 3kg bare, not behd
stink cannot view whilst at work.... stupid net restrictions
Scope mounts have changed which will probably win a few people over - actions are either 17mm Tikka mount or slotted for Picatinny rings depending on model
Correct. We have 52 about to be put on a plane (along with a few hundred Tikka)
Initially the S action size is coming in, so mainly 308. But we have ordered 7mm mags, 6.5prc, 300s etc. and before someone asks, no word on 7prc yet unfortunately.
I have shot these 90s a lot and are a great unit
TAKE MY $$$$$
1:8 .243, cool
Is there an extra 5% cost to go with the extra 5 on the model number?
There are a few wood blues coming as I am one of those purists myself!
Dirty big hole in the triggerguard... not sure about that one
....5% is still cheaper than any current inflation measure (no interest in getting into the current government's dereliction of duty here). The (elephant in the room) let down will be the NZ Agent bend over we get for the privilege of living at the brown freckle of the world.
It’s a very nice rifle but too expensive for a factory rifle. I like the range of options, metal Mag, new trigger, light weight, and carbon stock but I can put a T3 in a carbon stock for less than half the price. OK, not as special, but will shoot just as well.
and it won't have the intangible knob factor.
Bang for ya buck, Tikkas are heard to beat.
Has the peak got heavier isnt the sa 85 carvon light 2.4kg?
Are those all NZ images and video??
Like the 1:8 243 with the Black S/S.
Once the 1:8 243's start turning up in entry level rifles I'm guessing they will be very popular (T3's etc)
Z.
opps I see the T3 243's are now 1:8 as well.
Yes the entire international launch was filmed in NZ a couple months back. Benefits of all the animals in Europe being out of season.
I had all of the rifles you see in the films at home for a few weeks so I got to know them pretty well. Plus sneak out when people were not at the range and test fire them all.

A real shame Sako never made a Finnlight in 223, NZ would have taken 1000+ of them :)
They made the barrels, but diddnt used them until the Tikka superlight was put together
Very nice
Very Nice @mcche171.
It's great to see southern hemisphere scenery. Some of that is Victorian Sambar country isn't it ?
Anyway, the Peak seems to be the successor to the carbonlight ?
Do you have any list of cartridges for the XS ? Tell them I want 6ARC or 6.5 Grendel.
Do you know what are the differences between the Quest and the Quest Ultra ?
I see the Ultra has a carbon barrel but what else ?
I'm looking for 300PRC.
And what's the story with 28 Nosler ? Is it the new "modern 7mm" ?
Finally, do they all come with muzzle brakes ? (The gun your mates don't like)
Are there any material differences to the 85? Have been working so yet to see the vids - figured there might be some new advancements but nothing obvious jumping out at me from what I've read so far.
I wonder if the Carbonlight stock coating issue with it rubbing off has been fixed.
So you own a Fatbum aka 22-250 and you are still kept in the dark ages with a 14 twist. Big yawn Sako.
Hi
Yes the peak is the new Carbonlight. In XS you will only see .223. Unfortunately the 6ARC and Grendel wouldn’t sell 1/100th of the total number of units required to do R&D, production change etc etc.
On the Quest, yes Ultra refers to the carbon barrel. This barrel will show up in other models later down the track as well. Ie the Peak and S20.
300PRC is a hard one with huge initial demand and now a very steep decline. The 28 Nosler surprised everyone to be honest, but is good to see another option. Shows the power of the US market and their demands. For that reason alone I wouldn’t count out 300 PRC but is a 50/50 chance and I have not heard anything at our end.
Quest Ultra and Peak come with brakes.
