I spoke to Ken Henderson when he perfected the Howa Mini stock about one for my A1. He said it would fit ok but I'd need to do the inletting myself. Wish I had bought a couple now...hind sight, what a bugger Ken left this world.

    No worries
Just a thought. Probably shoots all the better for having its original stock (plus a little bit of glass bedding)

They are All bloody-heavy i reckon . My 6.5x55 AV weighs near 10lb with optilocs ,scope sling etc. I see 'CAC' has one identical on the yellow-site (my stock is darker/nicer! ) for 2.4k starting , bare-rifle only . I'm seriously-tempted to flute my barrel or trade it for a 222

A culler in the NW Ruahines played with one but got rid of it because it got too much bush material in the lever. Said it was a nice rifle but not suited for dragging through the scrub. THis from a man who lightened his BSA CF2 270 with a mercator. Did this in front of us in the old Ironbark camp and Maropea Forks. He had a janola plastic bottle 1/2 cut and screwed onto the front of his scope to keep water off the lens and dirt out of it as well. Cunning idea.

Is it a proper L461/Al stock or are they just fitting them into a L579/All one?

Way back in the day, a mate had one of these in 243. Unfortunately a previous owner had broken the stock at the wrist and had made a shocking job off glassing it up. I offered to tidy it up and trimmed it all down and epoxied back over the raw chopped strand and painted just the wrist section black. Fitted a 4x32 scope back on it and went to try it out. Holy shit was that thing accurate! 5 shots in 3/4 all day long, and wasnt fussy about ammo. Played with it for a few weeks and then gave it back to him. Think he sold it for a '94 and a pig dog.

Don't think I'm likely to take a knife to it or take it hunting in the bush, happy enough with it as a safe queen
