I've got one of the 336 Dark 30-30's and it is a great rifle, very well made, nice action.

Those 1895sbl have a good rep and sure look nice too.
The new ones are good. But the ones on the initial changeover were not so flash.

I have a 1895 which is very nice.

he new ones are not just good they are outstanding. the CBSL is awesome and you can even mount a different hand guard on it. you also have the versatility of running .38 or .357. one of the most fun firearms ive ever owned

in NZ possibly. it takes the same mag as the 77/44 bolt action.
ebay for NZ$ 51 + fr if you can get it in. permit should be fine as it's only a 4 shot.

Bought the Rossi Mod92 Puma 357/38 back in 1991, $575 new, and still have it. Good gun and cheap enough to shoot, have never had a problem, have shot some good pigs and deer with it, Son shot his first red deer with it at 13 years of age. Use 125gr hollow points over 21 grains of win 296 powder. Shoots about 2000fps but in my opinion is a 100yd gun. Did shoot a good bore out at about 150+ odd yards once with some hold over, was just more luck for me than him on the day. Bullet still went in by the kidney and stopped in the shield up front on the other side. I mounted a scope on it not long after I bought it, it`s still scoped.

Yes they are even harder to get than the rifle, though I did manage to get 2 spares out of the states a few years back.

    Browning BLR in 308.
They have a unique locking bolt system which allows full power loads with complete price of mind. Falling block etc mean bigger calibre low pressure loads.
    Worth a look, I’m a convert.
Plus they can be really accurate if you can master the trigger pull. 1st round hits on the 300m gong with. 1-6 scope if you know your drops.

its a rotary activated bolt. the lever mech actuates planetary gear which engae teeth on the lower of the bolt.
if you ever dissemble one first rule is dont!
but if you need to, magnetise the planetary gears and lever assembly to keep everything inline then demagnetise the receiver once assembled

A 38/357 would probably be a good start, and then you will end up getting a 44 or 44/40 or even a 3030.

I want to get a 45 colt or a 32/20 or something like that.
Theres a Winchester in 38/55 on TM.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !
