Hi all,

Did you try optics planet ??
Opticszone. Cant go past them.
Opticszone I used and no problems at all sent straight away
Also check the rifle scope store
Cds is great on a hunting rifle.
I've bought some stuff from OpticsPlanet and been very happy with the prices of the items and their service , but all of these companies really like to stick the knife in when it comes to their postage rates ( for example $39.95 US to post a set of scope rings to Australia ).
Even when I took into account the highway robbery postage costs I was still about $60 AU dollars better off buying from OpticsPlanet . I just wish they didn't gouge overseas customers as badly as they do , if they charged the real cost of postage it would make a " good " service " great ".
Ken
Use that youpost or what ever the nzpost thing is called. Most times you can talk the Americans into free shipping within the states A scope from the states cost me 18 for postage to NZ
Gibo, just be aware that CDS is elevation turret only, the windage turret is the "standard" turret for the scope.
The Optic Zone (9% discount currently)
Optics Planet
Natchezz SS
SWFA
all of these have had good feedback from guys on here
Just a word of warning: Optics Planet were a nightmare when I tried to bring in a scope from them direct to NZ. It went through the checkout ok then the real "checks" started coming!
been using optic zone for years always been good to deal with and do good additional discounts at times, so keep a eye on the special offers if you are not in a hurry, gear is usually in OZ in about 14 days
I dont have personal experience as always too farkin broke :oh noes:, but two mates have have multiple dealings with the riflescopestore and have had nothing but excellent service from day one. Prices are pretty sharp as well.
I have brought in two leupolds a vx6 and a mark4 from optics zone no problems with either and both arrived within two weeks
Second what others are saying Gibbo, Optic Zone, The Rifle Scope Store and Natchez are all USA optic sellers I have dealt with.
All have been very good
Just be aware Natchez won't send Leupold overseas, well the wouldn't the last time I tried, the others will
Natchez has some really good specials on other stuff though as well as scopes.Just got a weaver Grandslam off them last week.
I've also had The Optic Zone and The Rifle Scope Store send VX3 LR scopes to Leupold for M1 turrets to be fitted before they sent the scopes here with zero problems.
Awesome advice guys.
Im wondering if my choice of scope is not quite right?
I want to concider dialling both elevation and windage but keep a reasonable low to mid magnification.
2-12 sounded really good for the hunting I do 5-400m.
What would be the best choice within the $1500 range?
Pm Wildman , he won't be home yet but gimp him and I did a bit of longer range shooting after a wallaby shooting session this arvo and he was hitting targeted rocks at 500 yards in the wind with a leupy and cd turret, not quite sure which model but it was one of the VX models.
He would give you an idea of how it goes.
Gibo talk to Terry30cal or Happy, I used his 300 win mag the othe day, shit he has that sorted, only 200 metres but new on trigger pull it was a hit, really nice
Cheers guys will send some PM's.
Those checks probably started because you bought a product from them that is itar restricted. At optics planet when you click on the product you want to look at there will be a notification on the right hand side, opposite the product photo that will say, itar restricted or government export restriction or it will have a promo offer. Government export restriction can be ignored and you will get your kit you order as per normal but if it says itar restricted then there will be hoops to jump through. Tap in acog and select a model and you will see what i mean. At least at optics planet it states if its going to be trouble to export unlike opticzone which doesnt tell you jitt.
Vortex PST 4-16x50 might be an option, fist focal plane, exposed turrets, zero stop... USD $1k
Do you specifically want mil/mil or does that not matter ?
I dont know what I need but I want a scope I can dial that wont be affected by bush hunting i.e knocks to the turrets so maybe exposed is not ideal???
4x would be the highest I want to go on the minimum setting so I can still use it at close range.
Im in no hurry so all this is great info for me to buy once cry nunce :)
Natchez and superslams. A 3-15x40 would be the ticket and there in sale at the moment for around 480 usd. Great scopes excellent turret system. But a dab of lock tight under the turret caps is a must.
So where exactly did you shop to avoid itar restrictions if you did manage to get the same product out of the states? Ebay?
The vx 6 can have the cds turret on both windage and elevation.
However you only get one free. I was told around 80nz for another from nz Asia but Im sure you would get cheaper online.
They are easy to take on and off the 6 without changing zero or anything so you could go back to caps for bush if you wanted but i have never had any problems with the one on my vx3 haven't had the 6 long enough to comment but can't see it being a problem.
I recon your on the right track with mag range.
I got a 4.5-14x50lr back when they came out trying to make my rifle long range and bush capable but if Im honest it ruined it as a bush gun.
The 2-12 vx 6 is fantastic in the bush with enough top end for long range.
VC, is it only on the VX6 that you can fit CDS to wind age, or would hat work on VX3/2 CDS modes as well ?
Im not 100 percent on this but i think you can get lupys custom shop to fit the cds turret into the windage on the 3.
But yep
I probably won't bother getting the windage one on my 6 haven't had the need as on a hunting rifle i won't shoot in much wind at all and i just hold a bit for it.
The odd time on gongs i just take the cap off.
Cheers VC. Will go into a few shops for a look before I order anything.
6 not too heavy??
Haven't noticed any extra or less weight but Im not the kind of guy that weighs everything. Couldn't tell you what any of my rifles weigh.

6 on right 3 on left.
The clicks are more audible on The 3 the dial is far easyer to read on the 6.
20moa per turn on the 6 15moa per turn on the 3
Thoughts on the vxr guys? 2-7x33... Much heavier?
On my .308...

What would this be like, are Vortex all good?
Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44, Dead Hold BDC, Matte | Rifle Scopes | Discount Rifle Scopes, Binoculars and More - The Optic Zone
vortex get a good rep, i quite like the 4-16 power range, i have a burris XTR 4-16 and it is pretty nice, very reliable adjustments which is what i was after, i still reckon 4 is slightly on the high side for close stuff.
Heres my new toy, sightron s3 6-24, purchased from optic zone. havent actually used it yet but if your looking for solid audible clicks would be hard to go past this, lifetime warranty also

Shit this not going to be easy to decide ;)
i have a 6-24x50 pst vortex Vortex Optics - Viper PST Riflescopes
i did lots of research b4 i purchased mine and i rate it .... dont have a night force so cant compare but i have heard other vortex owners say that they would buy them again
love the postive clicks it has a zero stop and is FFP
although the 6-24 is more than you asked for im sure the 4-16 is equally as good
