Thread: scope slipping in rings

took the old girl to the range today trying to figure out a new load for it i noticed the scope is moving forward in the rings what do you guys that have had this problem use to stop this obviously ive tried the tightness of the rings etc and dont want to change the rings cheers nd

Unsual to notice it just now if youve had the rifle/scope a while. Try putting doublesided tape in the lower half of the rings then retorqueing.

self amalgamating rubber tape, get it from an electrical wholesaler.

It's worth checking the manufacturers web site for torque specs if you haven't already done so.

Wife's nail varnish in bottom ring halves always worked for me.
What cartridge and what rings are you using?

Its my old m96 and its got lynx one piece on it showing my age now I got it when I was 14 it was a package deal that came out in Aussie it evolved a bit since I originally bought it my first centre fire I occasionally take it out for a blast

Lynx stuff is good. Ring top screws should be tightened to 15"lbs, cross screws 20 -25"lbs depending what they are. Like already posted, surprised the scope would start slipping at this point in the set ups life. Time to maybe pull apart and have a decko at the inside of the rings etc. Is the scope a recent replacement. Is it a behemoth?

It is a recent scope as well just a nighteater I'll try nail polish varnish

Set the scope down into the rings pretty quickly and get tightened up as the nail varnish dries reasonably fast.

The only reason the scope will come off is if its fukd then it won't matter
