    Scopes

Want a 2 power being the mininum as I find it the best in our bush and at least a 7 at max. Higher is good but 7 is fine to me for a deer at 300

Illuminated is a plus too! I have no idea whats out there. Was thinking a leupold VXR could be the ticket but not so sure now.

Nice glass is good to please. Any scopes out there? Brands and models for me to oogle over please

The VX-R 2-7 is a great wee scope for the money I have one as a bush scope.
Have the German 4 ret. It is a big reticle but ideal for what I use it for.
    Highly recommend it.

Is it illuminated? When you look through it is it clear or does it have that big black ring around the outside like a ziess terra?

Thats what I want to hear. I looked through my mates vx3 after I told him to get it and it was shit. It has a like fat ring around the scope when you look through it. I dont like that, its the one thing I hate about the ziess terra. I dont want to spend a bit of money on a scope to do that aye

Probably eye position forward or back from where it should be, I have a VX3 and no problems with it, just need to have head in the right spot.

Compared to other scopes I have tried I think the Leupys have a generous sized eye box..each to their own though!

    Cheers

Look at the 2-10x42 hd5. Only issue I had with them was they were quite chunky and heavy for size so went to a swaro 3-10x42

And yeah it sounds like you didn't have you're head in the right spot when looking through the leupy

Are you talking about a black ring around the outside of the picture/cross hairs ?

If so, as previously mentioned your eye position is wrong.

    I haven't had a crap VX 111 or 3 yet

If there is something wrong with it send it back it will be fixed/replaced no questions, no matter how old, whether you are the first owner or not, one of the best warranties out there

Sounds to me like the scopes need to be properly setup, i have got a terra and reccomended 3 others none of them have a "ring" either.

I am sure he means the stupid black ring that encompasses the reticle centre dot... ? Oh no, that can't be correct as it's the reticle type on the VXR not VX3.

Toby, I would look at a new Kahles 2 - 7 x 36? or a leupold v3 2.5 to 8 x 36. Both good scopes for bush work. Kahles glass is pretty damm good. Worth about a grand here. Leupy should be 550 ish.
