Given the topic is the low second hand market and buying rifles there is an opportunity cost to not registering. Principles can be expensive.

Yes, there's a high probability that your 3 shot clover leaf group would fall in the main impact point of that group. I'd be happy with either measure.

the one that defeats me is bubba having a go at a nice rifle and then asking top dollar- second hand Sako recently on TM bugger had screwed a bipod mounting onto a wooden forend - nicely figured stock but now not original but wanted top dollar- sorry but its damaged goods - reduce the price - many of us very fussy about our wooden stocks and if paying big money must be original - another had carved finger grooves - another glued on a cheekpiece - my rant for day

One that amuses me is Tha R93 is to be avoided because they don't make them anymore. Yet their pet Sako model from way back is super sought after because they don't make it any more.

Probably nothing, But seeing as I trust the authorities with my information abot as I trust a scammer to be up front there is that. I know how the authorities and business process purchases of equipment and systems.....and the very process the use to decide what to get leaves the systems open to all sorts of shortcomings....and if my losing out n some purchases means my name is not on a leaked list (again..!!!) then I will take those steps ...

As an example, under their new S43A system for mail order (prior to the register starting) I was supposed to recieve an email with the from from a buyer to confirm their details....What did I get? The email had THREE forms attached.....The police sent me 3 forms with names, addresses and firearm details of 3 purchases - four of which I was not dealing with but I now know where they live, who bougth what and their license number meaning there is probably firearms at EACH and EVERY address. The kincker is that in all probability all of those people probably got my details as well.......And then the details were left ina bin in Auckland where they managed to lose hundreds of these to god knows who.....

Whats to gain...Nothing,,,whats to lose- maybe the same but quite possibly everything

Very good point. so why are you not selling all your rifles and handing in your firearms license if you are so keen on frontrunning the "inevitable" ?

Because in spite of my age I still have a quota (albeit diminishing) of common sense.

Happy to believe the statement about your age. On the rest lets agree to disagree.
