Having managed a couple of jams I am not that keen, mostly shooting goats with a full mag, filled in a hurry! Try it with a bunch of green people off the street! Remember that is your average soldier. Yes a rimmed cartridge will have more radius to grasp but I don't remember reading about rim breakage being a big problems with the Mauser rifle. Unfortunately the actions are rear locking and prone to stretching over time also. I had one that was danger long! Anyway they did serve a purpose admirably filling the long gap between black powder and reliable semi autos. All rifles had their pros and cons.
