Im interested to see what others are running in regards to a bush/short - mid range hunting rifle, more so on the lightweight side of things. Whos doing what, and what does your rifle weigh as a complete rifle with scope, loaded ready to hunt?

Mod 7 308 16" DPT Z5i 2.4-12 Stug stock was 2.5odd kg without DPT on with old VX2. Will need to weigh it again with the Swaro
I just love this thing!

My Kimber Montana (17 inch, fluted barrel), with DPT (incl stainless baffle), leupold VX-R 1.25-4 scope and 5 rounds comes in at 2.94kg. It's a bit lighter nowadays as only run 4 rounds, and I've swapped for a titanium handle and don't run a S1 dial any more.

Mod7 carbon, 16” 1:8, heavy fluted. Can’t claim the hard work as built by another fella on here, but enjoying using over past few years. Runs a Z5, 2-10. 69-77gr not fussy. Light enough..

Love this little rifle, incredibly useable, 1.935kgs, perfect for taking for a walk/tramp when you might see something :)

Recently got it going well with the 69 Hammer Absolute Hunters going even quicker than the 70 GMX that are obsolete
And on the opposite end of the scale

Caution scrolling through Photobucket can bring back painful memories :oh noes:
Since made it put weight on by changing things around was very hard to shoot accurately 7 saum pretty handy weight for a fat barreled magnum

Rem model 7.
All up about 3kg at most locked and loaded.
7mm08 and it just works.
Neck shot yearling at 255y from Saturday.
For a factory rifle the Kimbers would be high up the list along with the bergara extreme hunters.
Am sure @Ryan songhurst has something crazy light
@superdiver.
@ryansonghurst .
I think he's running a 14.5" 308 Howa Superlight.
My kimber hunter is 2.8kg with a vx3 2-7 and dpt
Kimber 308 cut at 17”. And a 7 saum in an early ken henderson stock. And there is the Howa mini as welll…

Husqvarna 1600, 308. Manufactured in 1960, sold out of Tuckers Sports in Ashburton in 1961. Kahles Helia 1.5-6. May have had 4 boxes of ammo through it in all those years. A lightweight rifle from when nobody knew what lightweight rifle was, 3.48kg.
Wby 284 20in bbl, with bolt & Swaro Z3 4-12x50= 6.3lb (2.86kg), with mag DPT suppressor it’s just under 7lb (3.1kg)
14.5" Howa Superlite. Still spits a factory 150sst out at 2720fps. If someone would make a floorplate for them I'd really be in love

Kimber hunter with dpt and vx3. Like 2.8 kegs all up. Great little gun, pretty much perfect for mehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...660b1fb4cb.jpg

Been trying to sort an easy carry rifle, cheap, all weather, soft recoil , versatile - bunnies, goats & deer within reason.
Chosen Cal - 223 with a up there twist
Got to say some of the rigs & weights shown in this thread are impressive.
Got me rethinking
Howa 6.5 Grendel with Stocky's stock (495gm), Sonic suppressor on 20" lightweight barrel, Leupold FX-1 4x28. All-up just under 2.8kg.
Attachment 242340
hopefully someone will make one eventually, it was a real fail to not have them come out factory with a floorplate IMO :ORLY: superlight factory rile though and represent great value. you could spend a fair whack more and still not have a rifle of the same/similar spec that light.
@Ryan_Songhurst good speed out a short barrel for the 150s. What flavor of factory? Superperformance?

@Dreamer what was the wait time for that?
Greetings All,
A blast from the past. The state of the art in the olden days.
Standard T3 Lite, Tikka rings, 6x36 Leupold scope with ballistic reticle. Load 159 grain SST at 2,810 fps. Earplugs in daypack. Been here about 20 years and hardly used. Not for sale. Tiny bench rest additional. Weight about 3 kg.
Regards Grandpamac.Attachment 242434
Greetings,
You all spotted my obvious mistake, they were 129 SST projectiles although I do have some 160 grain round noses. Hmm. and yes it was a 6.5x55 and not some new fangled thing that does the same job.
GPM
would be REALLY interesting to see the weight of that new never fired tikka 243 that was forsale a week or four back....
damn there are some light rigs on this thread..
this is 3.7kg as shown. its a 284 and about as lite as I want it to still be able to shoot respectable distance and spot hits on target
Attachment 242436
Greetings again,
The 6x36 scope (no longer listed) weighs under 300 grams. I don't have the bipod on for hunting as I can't use one in the field. A series of unfortunate events over the last year or so has kept the 6.5 in the safe but hope to rectify that in the coming months.
GPM.
Not exactly light now as it weighs 3.7kg .
Model 7 with a Remington sps weight hardy barrel at 20 inches. Remington fibreglass stock and a 2-12 vx6, dpt suppressor
Used to have a vx3 2.5-8 and the 18.5 inch standard barrel and I think 2.8 kg ish
