    Stopping the rot

I just removed the iron sights from my 22 semi to accomodate a scope . This obviously leaves 4 small threaded holes in the top of the barrell.
Should I fill the holes with something that will be easily removeable if I want to refit at a later date, or are the holes that small so as not to be an issue. ???

Thanks for the scope by the way Bill, I love it so far

What sort of .22 is it?

No, most engineering supply shops will not have the right grub screws, you will need to get them from a gunsmith, or an outlet like brown elks in the US. American rifles usually use 6-48 thread, but occasionally 6-40 (like new Ruger American does). European sometimes use M3mm, but not always. If you going to use loctite use the low strength stuff, NOT the red permanent type.

    Black silicone RTV sealant

Smooths over real nice and is easily removed at a later date if need be.

Thanks for the input fellas. I simply put the original screws back into their holes with the addition of blue Loctite. It is oly a cheapy Mossberg/Magtech plinker, so it doesnt have to look a million bucks so long as it shoots. Which it does surprisingly well at 60 metres

At least 7mmwsm got the numbers the correct way round. It has forever been a "4 x 2" .
2x 4 just would not work in the rhyming slang properly
