Yes I have tried them with 5 or 4 or 3 baffles. You need all 5 as with 4 its just as loud as with no can. You can get away with just can or just can with sub .22.
If you use an alloy can for a fast centre fire such as a .223 then it wont last long ive found as they start getting noiseier after a while and cleaning them out does nothing.
