About LinkBacksHere are a few numbers that may be helpful. Using a BK 2209 meter and 4136 mic calibrated with a BK 4228 Piston phone located 1 meter left of the muzzle and 1.6 meters above the ground.
20" PWS using R1M1 762x51 ammo no muzzle device - 165.68 dB(a) 2660 FPS
Same with can 137.15 2670 FPS
Tested at 50mm from shooters right ear (keep in mind this is a semi with adjustable piston gas)
No muzzle device 156 DB
Can 133.
Full results. About halfway down.
A few other numbers from memory. Brakes add 3 to 5 db over bare muzzle in the direction of ports. If the brake is turned on its side with bottom facing mic, the number is about the same as a bare muzzle.
