    Swaro 2.4-12x50 bt

Currently looking for an all round scope to go on a set up that is capable for the odd shot out to 450 - 500 yards but will predominantly be used for hunting well inside that range.
I’m not sure to go with another 3-18 or try the smaller 2.4-12 z5.
Can anyone with the smaller z5 please offer there thoughts. Cheers

    I had the 3 to 12 z3.
Was comfortable in the 500 yard zone
Nice fine ret and good glass.
Currently using the z5i plus 10x for the same kind of shooting.

I have one of these (2.4-12x) on my 243win and have shot animals (Tahr and Chamois) at 400 yards+. I don't claim to be a great marksman, and these sort of distances are about my limit on game. I don't feel the need for more magnification on those sized animals at that range. There seem to be plenty of people who are happy with 10x max too.

For the ranges you indicated 4-500 yds and a hunting scope I’d go the 2.4-12x50. Brilliant scopes. Run mine on 18in bbl 284.

2.4-12 will be fine. Just be aware if you plan to have a swaro flip cap, the 50mm objective means it may not clear the barrel easily if rings are not high enough. I could run mine ok on the kimber, but it was a PITA to put on or take off (lots of incremental twists and adjustments). I found the 3-18 had plenty of clearance using same rings.

I've got the 4-12 Z3. I don't feel limited at all shooting with that magnification range to 400yds etc.

I’ve got 3.5 -18. I’m comfortable to 500m but don’t go much higher than 12x. Starts to get difficult to use much past that for me. But great glass, fantastic low light performance.
