Is Andrew an authorized Swaro technician? If he isn't, then it may void the Swaro warranty.
If you've got a modern pair of binos which are still covered under warranty, I simply don't see the point in sending them to anyone other than the factory service-people. That way if anything happens to your binos during the repair process, you'll be given a new pair. It's just peace of mind.
Better to wait a little while longer, and perhaps borrow a marginal pair of binos in the interim, than risk having your good pair buggered/or the warranty nullified due to being impatient.
