I have a 50mm with big tenebrax scope caps sitting in mediums with plenty of clearance.

It also depends on how long the scope is and the degree of taper in the front bell. On a long or gently tapering scope (like the one pictured above), you tend to get better clearance because the fat bit is further away from the action and hanging over the (lower) barrel. So a long scope like a swaro z5 3.5-18x44 has better clearance than a short stubby kahles 3-9x42.

Make sure you measure the outside diameter of the scope bell, as some manufacturer claim a certain size objective but have a thick chunk of aluminium around it. Exemple: my bushnell which is supposed to be a 50 mm objective but measure almost 60mm on the outside.

Reckon a 50mm scope would fit with lows?

@Nick-D reckon there is room to fit a 50mm? I have a 44 and 50mm still undecided which scope I will run

@Beavis She'll be tight mate. Mine runs a few mill clear from memory. The viper is a reasonably short scope though. I've got a vx5 on it now, will measure when I get home

@Beavis bout 6mm clearance on the vx5 man. You'll want to go mediums for sure. Viper was a shorter scope and was even closer
