Thread: Tikka or Bergara in .308

Considering a new rifle in .308
What’s the thoughts on Tikka or Bergara ?

You can never go wrong with a Tikka, smooth action and great accuracy. Will you be primarily bush hunting?

The gunshop I deal with reckons Tikka are significantly more consistent...have a lower percentage of rifles that won't shoot well.

Our hunting mate uses a Bergara. RH but he shoots with his left eye. Loaded up 110gr TTSX with 748. It destroys deer. Made up another batch of 110gr Hornady using 2219 but will add another grain next batch. Using 7 baffle DPT MK11. Now points and kills. No recoil. Leupold glass. It is a meat rifle.

why limit your search to just those two what about a second hand Sako buyers market at moment Winchester MOD 70 allweather with its pr 64 action very nice

I would say similar quality rifles for a similar price, so would be good to gets your hands on to see how they fit you. Just for reference a Tikka .308 with factory 16" barrel weighs 2.6kg, so the Tikka is probably a bit lighter if that's important to you.

Have a fondle with some 308s in the gunshot. See how it feels when you bring it to your shoulder. I was told to do it with your eyes closed. Hopefully its pointing in the right direction when you open them again.
